(SEM) Inorganic Search Placement - Google Adwords

Since 2008, SEM (Search Engine Marketing), has been mostly comprised of Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter. The difference between SEO (Search Engine Optimization)  and  SEM (Search Engine Marketing), is whether or not you pay to get listed. There are two types of searches, Organic search placement (SEO) and Inorganic search placement (SEM). Inorganic search placement is the “Pay for click” spots you see on the top and right of the results page. These ads can be delivered very quickly and your web site can be seen on the first page with specific keywords or phrases you choose.

The problem some people have with click ads are the “Pay for click”. People cringe on the idea of having to pay someone to go to their web site. Other paranoid people think their competition will click on their ad repeatedly costing them lots of money. The truth of the matter is click ads can be very costly if you do not manage them correctly. There are two different types of online advertising. Branding and lead generating. All of my clients use lead generating for online advertising. Basically, I create ad groups pertaining to the keywords or keyword phrases they want. I then create a specific landing page for each keyword or keyword phrase. On the landing page, I create a form that will send lead information by email. I then track each keyword using analytic tools and goals to see how many leads that ad group can generate per day. I manage each ad group to get as many leads as possible without generating a lot of clicks. How much is a solid lead worth to you?

Google usually sends out $100 promo codes to start up a new account, but that money will dry up very quickly if you don’t know what you are doing. If you received a $100 promo code from Google, give me a call and let me see if I can make it stretch for you. I usually charge monthly and the cost depends on how many keywords phrases you use. I charge a monthly  management cost and not adword fees. I will create a new account for you so you can take advantage of the $100 promo code. Some companies will include the adwords cost within the monthly cost. I don’t, because you only pay for what is clicked and you are not paying for something you might not use. A lot of companies profit on the adword cost alone. A lot of companies that use me do that. It’s always going to save you money if you cut out the middle man.

I recommend starting out with Google Adwords and after a successful campaign, import the campaign into Bing/Yahoo Adcenter. I prefer Google, but leaving Bing out would be crazy. SEM - social-media

Another part of SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is social networking. This includes social sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. There are a lot more but you get the picture. If you create an account with these social sites you can promote your web site. The more links you put out there the better chance of your site receiving a better quality score. The better quality score means your click cost becomes cheaper.
